Story
Hello!
I'm making an effort to support the members of our Armed Forces who stand ready to risk their lives to protect our home and way of life. Their professionalism and resolve is something for us all to be proud of, so it's a tragedy that many end their careers with mental health challenges, physical injury and a new battle facing them in the difficult transition to civilian life. I feel it's right to give something back to those service personnel, and the brave military Wives, Husbands and Family members who stand by them during these difficult times.
To do this, I'm going to run the 5k Tough Mudder course on 21st of August, (which I intend to repeat on the longer courses in the future) tackling a challenge familiar to many servicemen and women. The course will consist of navigating 13 obstacles and discomforts such as mud, electric shocks and cold water, and will be a difficult physical challenge that tests my endurance and willpower. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated, and go straight to the Armed Forces Charity, SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).
SSAFA, as it's name would suggest, supports personnel and and family members belonging to the British Army, the Royal Navy, the RAF and the Royal Marines, both regular and reserve, for life. The charity runs a range of programs to help the mental and physical wellbeing of those in the forces and those who have served, from supporting Soldiers transitioning to civilian life, to providing welfare and financial support to the families of currently serving and former Servicemen and women. I encourage you to check out their website here: https://www.ssafa.org.uk/about-us/how-we-help
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to SSAFA. Thanks!

SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. In 2020, our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families. SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.
